It's an even better Dog's Life

We all thought that after the success of the inaugural Dean Dog Day in 2010 that we would have been reasonably relaxed about the second airing of the venture. Nothing of the sort. We all had a sleepless night on the Saturday - would peolpe turn out with their dogs again? What would we do if the weather turned?

By 11:45 on the Sunday, our fears were already unfounded and by the start at 12:30pm we had twice as many entrants as the previous year. We had from pedigree dogs to pooches and they were all great in their own right and the weather was fine but cool.

Certainly the judges had a hard time doing their job as I have never seen so many clean and well brushed dogs and as they say "Every One a Winner". This year, their job was even more difficult that last. The Dean Ladies provided their usually excellent array of home made sandwiches and home baked cakes.

As well as having a good day out, we were able to send a cheque for £200 to the Dogs Trust Charity. The full accounts will be posted on the Honeycomb and Dean Parish Council websites very shortly. Our sincere thanks go to everyone who made this event possible and hopefully we can bring all the dogs together again next year for another party, lets have more of you.
